W1 Recap

Assignment for next week:

Finish the form rendering exercise started in class. Render an organic 'blob' following a given direct light source of your choice, referencing a rendered sphere for the values. Use the half-way to black method to assign believable values.

Additionally, add the following modifications/manipulations to your rendered form (refer to the smaller blob on the left, above):
- Add an attachment/protrusion
- Have both smooth and flat surfaces (aka smooth vs fast value transitions, aka soft vs hard edges)
- Flatten a part of the form or slice something off to create a flat plane somewhere
- Punch a hole somewhere
- Add a deep cut / trench / indent
- Add a dimple
- Add occlusion shadows where appropriate
- Fake a quick cast shadow on the ground plane

I highly recommend that you read through Scott Robertson's take on the theories and principles we discussed in class. I promise it won't take long! There are a lot of pictures and diagrams :)
