Description:
The goal is to produce a portrait/bust painting based on a photographic reference, while adding some elements from imagination (costume, accessories, visual abstractions and other props). Try to use proper references for the imaginative elements as well. You will be tested on your ability to mix references and use them harmoniously within the same painting.
Find a high-resolution photo reference of a portrait or bust with good lighting which you will copy from. Post it on the blog to have it approved, along with a quick sketch for direction you'll be taking for the study.
Note: Check the comments on your posts for my feedback.
Grading criteria:
- Unified and logical lighting and colours
- Decent indication of materials, and respecting the properties of each materials
- Good likeness (with whatever reference you're using for the facial features)
- High polish (have a certain level of detail and good rendering)
- Sound anatomy and construction (if you are combining multiple poses and references for your figure)
- The amount of effort and work you put into the piece
- Creativity and composition
